English Premier League side Nottingham Forest have joined the race for the signing of Belgian forward of Ivorian descent, Johan Bakayoko.
The PSV forward in the last few weeks has become a transfer target of several clubs.
As reported by Africasoccer on Monday, Bakayoko is on the radar of German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.
The German Bundesliga outfit have identified Bakayoko as the ideal replacement for departing winger Jamie Gittens who is set to sign for English Premier League side Chelsea.
Backed by fresh funds from the Club World Cup and the sales of Youssoufa Moukoko and Gittens, BVB now have the financial muscle to strengthen their squad.
Sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed the club’s intent to be active in the transfer market, stating that Dortmund will “definitely do something.”
According to BILD, Dortmund’s main priority is to bolster their attack rather than their defense, despite concerns raised by their shaky backline during the Club World Cup.
Dortmund and Nottingham Forest are now set to battle for the signature of Bakayoko.
