Nottingham Forest are hopeful of agreeing a contract extension with Nigerian defender Ola Aina as discussions with his representatives progress.
The 28-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, but the Premier League club are eager to retain his services beyond the summer, according to Completesports.com.
Talks between Forest and Aina’s camp are reported to be at an advanced stage, with both parties working towards reaching an agreement, The Athletic reports.
Aina has been a key figure for Forest since joining on a free transfer in July 2023, signing an initial one-year deal.
The club exercised an option to extend his contract for a further year last summer, reflecting his importance to the team.
The versatile full-back has made 27 league appearances this season, scoring twice as he played a pivotal role in Forest’s push for European qualification under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Forest are determined to tie down the Nigeria international, whose consistent performances have attracted interest from other clubs.
With negotiations ongoing, the club remains optimistic that Aina will commit his future to the City Ground.
