Nottingham Forest begin talks over €12m move for Cameroonian defender Jackson Tchatchoua

Nottingham Forest have initiated contact with Hellas Verona over a potential summer transfer for Cameroonian full-back Jackson Tchatchoua.

The 23-year-old defender has emerged as a key target for the Premier League club, with reports indicating that Forest are considering tabling a €12 million bid.

The proposed deal is said to include a four-year contract, underlining the club’s long-term interest in the highly rated player.

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, negotiations between Nottingham Forest and Hellas Verona have already begun.

The English club is reportedly eager to secure Tchatchoua’s services ahead of the new season, viewing him as a promising addition to their defensive line.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered a more cautious view on the situation. Posting on his official social media account, Romano noted that while Forest have made inquiries regarding Tchatchoua’s availability and the terms of a possible transfer, no formal offer has yet been submitted.

Tchatchoua, who has impressed in Serie A with his dynamic performances at right-back, has drawn attention from several clubs this summer. His consistent displays over the course of the 2024/2025 campaign have seen his profile rise considerably.

In 36 league appearances, the Ixelles-born player registered two goals and three assists, underlining his ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch.

Despite his growing reputation, Tchatchoua remains under contract with Hellas Verona until June 2027. His market value is currently estimated at €8 million by Transfermarkt, and he earns an annual salary of €450,000 in Italy.

The Serie A side may look to capitalise on growing interest by securing a higher transfer fee, especially given the defender’s age and recent form.

The Cameroon international’s performances have made him one of the standout young defenders in Italian football this season. Known for his pace, tenacity, and versatility, Tchatchoua is capable of operating as a full-back or wing-back, attributes that would suit Nottingham Forest’s system well.

Forest are believed to be actively exploring reinforcements across several positions this summer, with defence a particular area of focus. The potential arrival of Tchatchoua would be viewed as a strategic investment, aimed at adding youth, energy, and depth to the squad ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign.

At this stage, discussions between the two clubs remain in the preliminary phase, and no agreement has been reached. Hellas Verona are expected to evaluate any incoming offers carefully, weighing the player’s importance to their plans against the financial appeal of a sale.

As the summer window progresses, Nottingham Forest’s interest in Tchatchoua could soon turn into a concrete offer. Whether a deal will materialise depends on how negotiations unfold in the coming weeks, but the Premier League side appear serious in their pursuit of the Cameroonian talent.
