Nothing is impossible – Nigeria coach Eric Chelle confident ahead of World Cup playoff
Nigeria coach Eric Chelle is confident about his outfit chances ahead of the crucial 2026 World Cup playoff this month.
The Super Eagles missed out on automatic World Cup qualification and are set to participate in a playoff to determine their fate.
The playoff structure sees Nigeria face Gabon, while Cameroon takes on DR Congo on November 13. The winners will compete on November 16 for a spot in the intercontinental playoffs scheduled to March 2026.
With Motivation and unity, Chelle believes the Super Eagles can triumph their opponent to secure qualification to the final playoff next year.
“Before AFCON, there’s a crucial target: the World Cup play-offs. The goal is to win those matches… We’re working in parallel, but our mindset must first be on those immediate tests.
“When you coach Nigeria, you have to win everything. But we proceed with humility, with a smile and a will to work… If we stay serious, motivated and united, nothing is impossible.”
Chelle, who led Mali to the quarter-finals in the last tournament has already submitted his provisional list for the crucial playoffs.
