Nobody expected Liverpool to be top of EPL at this point in the season – Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate

French defender of Malian descent, Ibrahim Konate, believes many people are surprised Liverpool are going to win the English Premier League this season because they did not expect the team to lead the league table at this point of the campaign.

After 32 games into the league campaign, Liverpool are leading the table with 76 points, seven points ahead of the team in second, Arsenal.

Despite the impressive performance of the Reds in the English Premier League, some people have downplayed the efforts of the team.

Ibrahima Konate disagrees with this but believes it is only the case because nobody believed the team to be leading the league table at this time of the season.

“…nobody expected us to be where we are today,” Konate said.

He continued, “We just have to do everything and give everything every game until the end of the season, game after game, and if we achieve something special, everyone will be very happy.”

Liverpool will be aiming for another win next weekend in their game against Leicester City to increase chances of winning the English Premier League title.
