Noah Atubolu: Freiburg goalkeeper linked with Juventus move in Italy transfer rumours

Juventus are being linked with a move for Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu, with the Bundesliga stopper reportedly emerging as a €20.00m target for the Serie A club.

The 23-year-old, who holds both German and Nigerian nationality, is currently Freiburg’s number one and has seen his market value rise sharply in recent seasons, reaching €20.00m as of December 2025 according to Transfermarkt. The latest speculation, dated 3 March 2026, lists the probability of a deal only as “?”, underlining that talks are at an early and uncertain stage.

Atubolu has spent his entire senior career within the Freiburg system, progressing from the club’s youth ranks through the U17s, U19s and SC Freiburg II before stepping up to the first team in July 2021. Born in Freiburg im Breisgau on 25 May 2002 and standing at 1.90m, he has developed into one of the Bundesliga’s highly rated young goalkeepers, operating as a right‑footed, traditional shot-stopper.

The goalkeeper, who wears the number 1 shirt, has not yet been publicly listed with a contract expiry date, raising the theoretical prospect that he could move into a free agent scenario in future if no extension is agreed, although the current rumour centres on a transfer rather than an imminent contract expiry.

His rise has been mirrored in his valuation, which has climbed from €25,000 in 2020 with Freiburg II to the current €20.00m mark after consistent development in Germany’s top flight. Most recently, he featured in Freiburg’s 2025‑26 Bundesliga campaign, including a league outing against domestic opposition earlier this season in which his performance helped preserve Freiburg’s push for European qualification.

With Juventus long associated with planning successions in key positions, a move for Atubolu would represent an investment in a long-term number one; if the transfer materialises, it could define the next phase of his career and elevate his reputation on the European stage.
