Noah Atubolu emerges as Eintracht Frankfurt target

Noah Atubolu’s future at SC Freiburg has become uncertain after Eintracht Frankfurt emerged as a possible destination for the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

With his hopes of moving to the Premier League yet to materialise, Atubolu is considering alternatives that would allow him to continue playing regularly at a high level.

Frankfurt are searching for greater stability between the posts and view the former Germany Under-21 international as an appealing option. However, the precise transfer structure remains unclear, while Freiburg appear open to discussing a move.

“Fundamentally, Frankfurt are a very, very big club in Germany. Therefore, it could be an option for him to stand between the posts there,” Freiburg head coach Julian Schuster told Bild.

A deal may depend on Frankfurt first selling one of their current goalkeepers. The club reportedly have doubts about Kaua Santos and Michael Zetterer, while Zetterer has attracted interest from Leeds United.

Atubolu could reportedly be available for around €15 million, although a loan remains the more likely solution. Another possibility would see him extend his Freiburg contract until 2028 before temporarily leaving the club.

Schuster confirmed that Freiburg continue to support the goalkeeper during the uncertainty. “We are constantly in contact and integrate him accordingly into our training,” he said. “That is our task and our duty when someone is under contract.”
