Reports linking Victor Osimhen to Manchester United have been dismissed as baseless, with no negotiations currently taking place between Napoli and the Premier League club, sources close to the situation have confirmed.
Speculation has been rife in recent weeks suggesting that Manchester United were closing in on a deal for Osimhen.
However, sources close to the Nigerian striker’s agent, Roberto Calenda, have denied any such discussions.
“There can be no agreement without discussion. These rumors are totally absurd. If there is any interest, it is limited to the media, but there has been no contact with Napoli or Osimhen. So there is not a shred of truth in these speculations,” a source told Africafoot.
Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been in exceptional form, scoring 20 goals and providing five assists in 26 appearances.
His performances have reignited interest from Europe’s top clubs, but for now, his future remains undecided.
Manchester United’s striker search
Manchester United are expected to reinforce their attack in the summer transfer window, following an inconsistent campaign from Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
The Napoli forward fits the profile of a prolific goal-scorer the club is seeking, but their chances of landing him remain uncertain.
A move to Old Trafford appears unlikely at this stage, particularly given United’s slim hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen has made it clear that competing in Europe’s top club competition is a priority for him next season, which could rule out United as a potential destination.
Other clubs monitoring Osimhen
While United’s pursuit remains speculative, other top clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool, have been linked with a potential move for the Nigeria international.
There have also been rumors of interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, though Osimhen is reportedly keen on staying in Europe’s elite leagues.
For now, the 26-year-old is focused on Galatasaray’s campaign, with the Turkish club preparing for their 25th league fixture against Kasimpasa.
A final decision on his future is expected this summer, but until then, speculation will continue to swirl around one of football’s most sought-after strikers.
