Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has broken his silence following the serious injury he sustained during the Club World Cup quarterfinal against Paris Saint-Germain.
Musiala, who was born in Germany to a Nigerian father and German mother, suffered a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle in a heavy collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The incident, which occurred during Bayern’s 2-0 defeat, has ruled him out of action for at least four to five months.
The 22-year-old is currently recovering in Munich after undergoing surgery and used social media to share his thoughts and thank supporters for their messages.
“I wanted to say thanks for all the love and support. It’s nice to see how the football world comes together in times like this,” Musiala wrote.
“I’ve really appreciated it. The surgery went really well, I’m in good care and I wanted to say there’s no one to blame for this.
“I think situations like this happen and now I’m just going to use the next period of time to build up my strength and positivity again.”
The injury is a significant blow for both Bayern Munich and the German national team, with Musiala having been a key figure in the midfield.
His absence could affect Bayern’s preparations for the new Bundesliga season and their European ambitions.
