Nkosingiphile Ngcobo joins Lupus Sports amid possible Kaizer Chiefs exit

Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has joined Belgian sports agency Lupus Sports, a move that could help the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder secure a departure from the club in the near future.

The 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Amakhosi and appears to be outside coach Fernando Da Cruz’s plans. His contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but linking up with Lupus Sports could give Ngcobo the opportunity to pursue a fresh start during the upcoming January transfer window.

Lupus Sports presented Ngcobo as a player who still has significant qualities to offer, despite his recent difficulties at Kaizer Chiefs.

“Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is a technically gifted, left-footed midfielder known for his excellent ball control, quick decision-making, vision, and passing ability,” the agency said in an Instagram post.

The agency added: “Born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, Mshini developed through the youth structures at Kaizer Chiefs before being promoted to the first team in 2017. Since then, he has gained valuable experience competing at the senior level.”

Ngcobo made his senior debut for Chiefs in a 1-0 victory against Maritzburg United, now known as Durban City, in March 2019. His composed left-footed play led to expectations that he would develop into an important part of the club’s midfield.

His progress, however, has been affected by a series of setbacks. Injuries, a drop in form and fitness problems have limited his development, and he has not yet fulfilled his potential seven years after breaking into the Chiefs first team.

Despite those challenges, Ngcobo has made more than 100 appearances for Amakhosi. His move to Lupus Sports now comes at a significant stage of his career, with his future at the club increasingly uncertain.

Although the agency is headquartered in Belgium, it represents a number of South African players based both in the country and overseas. Its current portfolio includes Kamogelo Sebelebele of Orlando Pirates, Samukelo Kabini of Molde FK in Norway, Bathusi Aubaas of Mamelodi Sundowns and Aden McCarthy of Sabah FK in Azerbaijan.

Ngcobo’s decision to join that group provides him with representation as he considers his next career move, whether that comes when his Kaizer Chiefs contract ends or during the January transfer window.
