Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq has been shortlisted for two prestigious La Liga awards following his standout performances for Valencia.
Since arriving at the club on loan from Real Sociedad, Sadiq has made a significant impact, netting four goals in eight league matches.
His strong form has earned him a place among the nominees for the Spanish top-flight’s Player of the Month award for March.
However, the 28-year-old faces stiff competition from Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe, Real Betis playmaker Isco, Celta Vigo defender Marcos Alonso, and Rayo Vallecano midfielder Pedro Diaz.
Each of these players has also delivered impressive performances over the past month, making the race for the award highly competitive.
In addition to the Player of the Month nomination, Sadiq is also in contention for the Goal of the Month award.
His brilliant backheel finish in Valencia’s 3-3 draw against Osasuna has been recognized as one of the standout goals of March.
The strike showcased his technical ability and quick thinking, further solidifying his growing reputation in La Liga.
Sadiq’s recognition comes at a crucial time, as he is currently with the Nigerian national team preparing for key FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
His recent form could be a major boost for the Super Eagles as they aim to secure vital points on their road to the 2026 World Cup.
