KRC Genk striker Tolu Arokodare is set to make his long-awaited debut for Nigeria after earning a place in the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The 24-year-old forward has been included in Nigeria’s 23-man squad as the team looks to secure crucial points on the road to the global tournament.
His call-up comes on the back of an outstanding campaign in the Belgian Pro League, where he has netted 17 goals so far this season.
A Well-Deserved Call-Up
Arokodare’s prolific form for Genk has not gone unnoticed, with the powerful striker proving instrumental in his club’s success.
His most recent contribution came in Genk’s 2-0 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise, further cementing his reputation as one of the league’s standout performers.
Speaking about his maiden national team selection, Arokodare expressed a mix of excitement and pride.
“I don’t know how to feel yet. It’s a mixture of incredible feelings for my family and me. I can’t wait to wear this jersey,” he told Voetbalnieuws.
Early Arrivals in Super Eagles Camp
Arokodare is among the first six players to have reported to the Super Eagles’ training camp at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Kigali.
With the team beginning preparations for the qualifiers, Nigeria will be looking to hit the ground running as they take on Rwanda on March 21 before hosting Zimbabwe four days later in Uyo.
His inclusion offers head coach Finidi George an additional attacking option, and fans will be eager to see if the in-form striker can replicate his club performances on the international stage.
