Nigeria's Finidi George remains confident amid absences ahead of FIFA matches

As Nigeria’s Super Eagles gear up for crucial FIFA friendly matches against Ghana and Mali, the absence of key players like Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Gabriel Osho, and Tyronne Ebuehi due to injury has posed challenges for coach Finidi George. However, despite the setbacks, George remains steadfast in his confidence in the team’s capabilities.

Set to reignite the long-standing rivalry against Ghana’s Black Stars and face the Eagles of Mali in Marrakech, Morocco, on March 22, the Super Eagles will be without the services of several key players.

Osimhen’s club has opted to keep him sidelined as he continues his recovery journey, while Osho faces a delay in his national team debut due to a knee injury.

The absence of Awoniyi and Ebuehi further compounds the challenges for the Nigerian side.

In response to the setbacks, coach Finidi George has voiced his unwavering belief in the squad’s ability to rise to the occasion and represent Nigeria with pride.

Despite the notable absences, George remains optimistic about the team’s prospects, emphasizing the importance of unity and patriotism among the players.

“We will be missing four players who have withdrawn due to injury, but I have confidence in the team we have here that they will wear the green-white-green with pride and patriotic fervor,” stated George, as reported by the Nigerian Football Federation’s website.

As the Super Eagles prepare to take on formidable opponents in Ghana and Mali, George’s confidence serves as a rallying cry for the team to showcase their resilience and determination on the international stage.

With a collective spirit and unwavering commitment, Nigeria aims to overcome adversity and make their mark in the upcoming FIFA matches, showcasing the depth and talent within their footballing ranks.
