Nigeria attacker Ahmed Musah has officially announced his retirement from international football, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable Super Eagles career that spanned nearly 15 years.

The 33-year-old, who currently serves as the General Manager of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kano Pillars, confirmed his retirement from international football on Wednesday via his social media accounts.

Musah made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2010 and established himself as a key member of the team, playing an integral role in their 2013 AFCON triumph.

Currently, Musah holds the record as the player with the most appearances for the Nigeria national team. In his 15-year career, the enterprising attacker racked up 111 appearances and scored 18 goals.

“I wore this badge with pride for 15 years. From a 17-year-old boy answering every call to becoming the most capped Super Eagle with 111 appearances. AFCON champion. Nigeria’s highest World Cup goalscorer. Captain. Servant. Believer. I gave everything. Thank you Nigeria… my heart will always beat green.” He wrote on social media.

Musa’s international journey began when he made his Super Eagles debut in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Madagascar on September 5, 2010, announcing himself as one of the brightest young talents in Nigerian football at the time.
