AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze has delivered a frank assessment of his debut season at San Siro, describing it as one of the most difficult periods of his professional career.
The Nigerian international, who joined the Rossoneri amid high expectations, reflected candidly on his struggles during the 2024–25 Serie A campaign.
Despite making 26 league appearances, Chukwueze managed only three goals and two assists, figures that fell short of both fan hopes and his own standards.
Speaking in an interview with Victor Modo, Chukwueze did not shy away from the reality of his situation.
“Last season is something we don’t really want to talk about,” he admitted. “It was a bad season for the Milan fans and everyone involved.”
The 25-year-old’s frustration is clear, not just over his personal performances but over Milan’s collective disappointment.
The club, which had hoped to mount a serious title challenge and push further in Europe, ended the season without silverware, an outcome that left supporters disillusioned and players searching for answers.
Chukwueze, who rose to prominence during his time at Villarreal, joined Milan in the summer of 2023 in a move that signalled Milan’s intent to add flair and pace to their attacking options.
However, he found consistent game time hard to come by under Stefano Pioli, often being used as a substitute or rotated in less crucial fixtures.
“I’m not going to lie: we didn’t win anything, I didn’t play much, even though I had the stats,” he said, expressing a mix of disappointment and confusion.
The winger’s remarks suggest a season of internal conflict, feeling capable yet limited in opportunity.
For many fans, Chukwueze’s comments resonate with what they saw on the pitch: moments of brilliance overshadowed by long stretches of inconsistency.
His limited involvement may have been influenced by tactical choices, injuries, or competition within the squad, but the player made it clear that the season did not meet his ambitions.
Despite the tone of regret, his honesty has earned respect from sections of the Milan fanbase who have praised his willingness to speak openly about a season many would prefer to forget.
His admission also hints at a player determined to bounce back stronger, with an eye on reclaiming a more prominent role in the squad next term.
Chukwueze’s future at Milan remains uncertain. While his talent is unquestioned, the club faces critical decisions over the summer including a managerial change and squad overhaul.
Whether the Nigerian winger will be central to those plans or become a casualty of Milan’s restructuring efforts remains to be seen.
For now, Chukwueze’s focus appears to be on personal redemption. “It’s one of the worst seasons of my professional career,” he said plainly.
These words underscore not only his dissatisfaction but his drive to do better.
As Milan looks to turn the page, so too does Chukwueze, hoping that next season brings not just more minutes on the pitch but a return to form that once made him one of La Liga’s most exciting prospects.
