Nathan Tella is thriving at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, emerging as a vital asset for the team.
His journey took a significant turn with his match-winning goal against Bayern Munich in the DFB Cup, earning him a spot in the starting eleven for four consecutive games—all victories for the club.
Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso, lauded Tella’s mentality after their resounding 5-1 win against SC Freiburg. “If you saw his performances in the last few games, you also saw what an impact he had on the team,” Alonso stated. “He scored a very important goal for us in Munich. Regardless, he is always ready. We need players with that kind of mentality and personality.”
Tella’s determination has been evident since his early-season struggles, where he often found himself on the bench. Yet, he never wavered. “When he didn’t play, he didn’t give up,” Alonso emphasized.
As the second half of the season looms, Tella’s readiness will remain crucial, starting with a high-stakes clash against Borussia Dortmund on January 10.
