Nigerian striker Victor Boniface had a confrontation with Bayer Leverkusen teammate Emiliano Buenda on Saturday during their clash against Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga.
The incident occurred in the final minutes of the game that saw Bayer Leverkusen securing a convincing 4-1 win at the end of the 90 minutes.
The two players were seen arguing in an incident that almost ended in a fight.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso explained that the argument occurred because striker Victor Boniface wanted to score a goal.
The young tactician assured that the team would deal with the issue between the two players and move on.
“He wanted to score a goal. It’s not a problem, we’ll talk about it. Passion is normal in football. Strikers want to score goals,” Xabi Alonso said.
With Bayer Leverkusen set to face off with Bayern Munich in a crucial Round 16 tie in the Uefa Champions League this month, the team needs all of its best players to be on good terms to achieve the best result.
Not just Victor Boniface but Emiliano Buendia would be key for Leverkusen in the remainder of the season.
