Nigerian striker Terem Moffi nears return as OGC Nice eyes Champions League push

Terem Moffi is edging closer to a return for OGC Nice after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.

The Nigerian striker, who has been out of action since last July due to a cruciate ligament tear, is now back in team training and could make his comeback in the coming weeks.

Recovery Progress and Optimism at Nice

Moffi’s absence has been a significant blow for Nice, but the 24-year-old has been working tirelessly to regain full fitness.

Having gradually rejoined team training since late February, he is now showing positive signs of a return to competitive action.

Laurent Bessière, the club’s performance director, provided an encouraging update on the forward’s recovery.

“He has zero weakness, his knee is responding very well, and everything is in order,” Bessière said. “He’s starting to get the feel of competition again, and he’s really smiling. He’s eager to keep progressing and get back on the pitch.”

As part of his reintegration, Nice has scheduled a friendly match next week against Brighton’s U23 side.

This fixture is expected to serve as a key test for Moffi before he is fully reintroduced to Ligue 1 action.

A Timely Boost for Nice’s Champions League Aspirations

Nice is currently embroiled in a fierce battle for a Champions League qualification spot, competing with the likes of Marseille, Monaco, Lyon, and Strasbourg. Moffi’s return could provide the attacking firepower needed to strengthen their push for European football next season.

Despite his progress, the club’s medical team remains cautious about rushing him back too soon.

The plan is to ease him into action, potentially utilizing him as a key impact player in the final stretch of the campaign.

While it remains to be seen how quickly he can regain full match sharpness, there is little doubt that his return will be a significant boost for Nice as they look to secure a top-three finish.
