Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu delivered a decisive performance for Southampton on Saturday, scoring the match-winning goal in a 2-1 triumph over Ipswich Town.
The forward led the line for the Saints in their away fixture, playing a crucial role as they secured all three points in the English Premier League.
Southampton struck first in the 21st minute when fellow Nigerian Joe Aribo fired home a first-time shot from inside the box, putting the visitors ahead. However, Ipswich responded just 10 minutes later through Liam Delap, who weaved past the defense before finishing from close range to restore parity.
With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Onuachu stepped up in the 87th minute to make the difference. After a rebound fell kindly to him, he made no mistake, slotting the ball home to hand Southampton a crucial victory.
Onuachu played the full 90 minutes, earning an impressive match rating of 8.1 for his efforts.
