Nigerian striker Olarenwaju Kayode calls Turkey his second home, eyes long career ahead

Olarenwaju Kayode

Olarenwaju Kayode, the Nigerian forward lighting up Şanlıurfaspor in the Trendyol 1st League, has cemented his place as a true stalwart of Turkish football.

Now in his sixth season in Turkey, Kayode, 31, remains as passionate as ever about thriving in the country he calls his “second home.”

Currently showcasing his talent with Şanlıurfaspor, Kayode has been pivotal this season, scoring four goals in six matches, including a hat-trick against Adanaspor in a commanding 4-1 victory. Speaking to AA reporters, the striker expressed his excitement and determination to elevate his game further. “I feel good and am catching my rhythm. My confidence is growing daily, and I believe I’ll continue to improve,” he shared.

Reflecting on his long tenure in Turkish football, which includes stints with Gaziantep FK, Sivasspor, and others, Kayode praised the country’s football progress. “Turkey feels like home to me. I want to give my all and play here for many more years. Turkish football is growing, and the national team’s success is inspiring.”

For Kayode, Şanlıurfa isn’t just a club; it’s part of a larger family in a country he loves.
