Middlesbrough have secured the signing of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho on loan from Sevilla until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old, who previously starred for Manchester City and Leicester City, returns to England to bolster Boro’s attacking options.
Iheanacho made a name for himself at Manchester City, winning the League Cup as a teenager before moving to Leicester in 2017. During his time at the King Power Stadium, he played a crucial role in their FA Cup triumph and helped the Foxes secure promotion back to the Premier League last season.
With 85 goals in over 300 career appearances, the Nigerian international also boasts a strong record on the international stage, netting 15 times in 57 caps. After moving to Sevilla last summer, he managed three goals in 11 appearances in La Liga.
Boro will be hoping Iheanacho’s experience and finishing ability can propel them towards their promotion ambitions as he looks to make an immediate impact in the Championship.
