Nigerian forward Eseosa Sule signs new West Brom deal and vows to earn first-team spot

Eseosa Sule has committed his immediate future to West Bromwich Albion by signing a new two-year contract, despite interest from several Premier League clubs and top-flight European sides.

The 19-year-old Nigerian, who is also eligible to represent Scotland, has been part of the Baggies’ academy since his early teens and made his senior debut last season.

Sule’s decision to extend his stay at The Hawthorns comes with a clear objective—to establish himself as a regular in Ryan Mason’s first-team plans.

The striker, who has impressed consistently at youth level, confirmed that his decision to remain with the Championship club was driven by his ambition to succeed at West Brom.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Sule expressed gratitude to his agency, InMotion Sports, for respecting his wish to stay and helping facilitate the deal.

“I always wanted to stay at West Brom and it’s been my priority since my initial contract ended,” he said.

“A huge thank you to my management for helping me achieve that. I stayed because I want to fight to make it, but also to defend this team.”

Sule, who made just one first-team appearance last season, is aware of the challenge ahead.

However, he remains confident that his continued development and hard work will earn him a permanent place in the senior squad.

“Last season, I had an idea of what the first team could be like, but now I know I can settle in permanently,” he said.

“I know it won’t be easy, as the players are obviously very talented and skilled, but I have to fight to give myself a chance, especially with the new coach. I have to make a lot of sacrifices, work hard, and be willing to learn to put myself in a strong position.”

Sule’s form at youth level has made him one of the club’s standout academy prospects. During the 2023–24 campaign, he scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 29 matches across Premier League 2 Division One, the Premier League Cup, and the National League Cup.

Since the start of the 2022–23 season, he has been directly involved in 31 goals in 67 youth appearances—figures that underline his attacking potential.

Despite growing interest from Premier League sides including Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Fulham, Sule has remained loyal to the club that helped nurture his development.

His decision to stay is seen as a boost for West Brom’s ambitions to integrate more academy talent into the first team under new head coach Ryan Mason.

Internationally, Sule has yet to be capped at senior level for Nigeria, but his continued progress at club level could put him on the radar of national selectors.

With dual eligibility, he remains a prospect for both the Nigerian and Scottish national teams.

As he enters a critical phase of his career, Sule has set clear targets—to prove himself worthy of a regular place in West Brom’s senior squad and to contribute meaningfully to the club’s push for promotion.

With a new contract signed and his focus firmly set on development, all eyes will be on the promising forward as he aims to make the leap from youth prospect to first-team regular.
