Emmanuel Dennis, the Nigerian international forward, has become the subject of intense transfer interest from Championship clubs Sheffield Wednesday and Watford, as the January window progresses.

The Nottingham Forest striker, who has yet to make an appearance this season, is reportedly available for a loan move.

However, negotiations with Sheffield Wednesday appear to be at a standstill, largely due to the Premier League club’s financial demands.

Forest are said to require any prospective suitor to shoulder a significant portion of Dennis’s substantial wages, which has proved to be a sticking point in discussions.

Sources close to the talks suggest that while Sheffield Wednesday has expressed a clear interest in the 25-year-old, discussions remain in the early stages.

No formal agreement has been reached, leaving the Owls in a precarious position as they seek reinforcements for their attacking lineup.

Watford, meanwhile, have emerged as strong contenders in the race to secure Dennis’s signature.

The Hornets are keen to reunite with their former player, who impressed during the 2021/22 Premier League campaign by netting 10 goals.

This familiarity, coupled with their need for offensive reinforcements, places Watford in a favorable position to finalize a deal.

The potential return to Vicarage Road is further complicated by competition from abroad. Clubs in Saudi Arabia have also shown interest in the Nigerian forward, adding another layer of uncertainty to the situation.

While Sheffield Wednesday remain hopeful, Watford’s established relationship with Dennis and their stature as Championship promotion contenders could sway the player’s decision.

Dennis, who has earned eight caps for Nigeria, enjoyed a breakout season with Watford before joining Nottingham Forest.

However, his time at the City Ground has been underwhelming, with limited opportunities to make an impact.

As the transfer window draws to a close, his future hangs in the balance, with both Championship clubs vying to secure a player who could significantly bolster their campaigns.

The coming weeks will determine whether Dennis opts for a familiar environment at Watford, a fresh challenge with Sheffield Wednesday, or an entirely new chapter abroad.
