Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen fires Galatasaray past Bodo/Glimt with brilliant Champions League brace
Victor Osimhen underlined his growing influence at Galatasaray with a match-winning performance on Wednesday night, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian forward, who also netted the decisive goal against Liverpool earlier this month, struck early to set the tone for the Turkish side’s dominant display.
His opener came after just three minutes, as he met Mario Lemina’s precise pass with a calm, first-time finish that left the Norwegian champions stunned.
Osimhen doubled Galatasaray’s advantage in the 33rd minute after capitalising on a costly mistake from Fredrik André Bjorkan.
The left-back’s lapse in concentration gifted Osimhen possession, and the 26-year-old needed no second invitation—skipping past the goalkeeper before slotting home his second of the night.
Bodo/Glimt showed greater intent after the interval, pushing men forward in search of a response. But Galatasaray’s attack, led by a relentless Osimhen, continued to threaten.
In the 55th minute, the Super Eagles striker selflessly laid off a chance for Yunus Akgün, who missed before seeing another effort blocked minutes later.
Akgün eventually found redemption. His persistence paid off after Osimhen’s high press forced a turnover deep in Bodo/Glimt’s half.
Although Akgün’s first shot was saved by Nikita Haikin, he reacted swiftly to score from the rebound, making it 3-0 to the home side.
The visitors grabbed a late consolation through Andreas Helmersen in the 81st minute, but it did little to alter the outcome. Galatasaray’s control and Osimhen’s brilliance proved too much to handle for the Norwegian champions.
With the win, Galatasaray move to six points from three games, positioning themselves well for qualification to the knockout stage. Bodo/Glimt, meanwhile, remain winless after two draws and a defeat.
Osimhen’s brace takes his tally to three Champions League goals this season and five in all competitions—further cementing his status as Galatasaray’s key attacking force.
