Nigeria superstar Victor Osimhen produced another stellar performance post-AFCON, securing a hat-trick for Napoli against Sassuolo in a commanding 6-1 Serie A victory.
The Nigerian striker not only showcased his scoring prowess but also contributed an assist during the game on Wednesday evening.
Osimhen’s remarkable feat propelled him into the annals of Napoli’s history, as he equalled a distinguished record previously held by footballing legend Diego Maradona and Attila Sallustro.
He became only the third player in Napoli’s rich history to achieve double figures in goal-scoring for four consecutive seasons with the club.
This milestone underscores Osimhen’s consistent and impactful presence, having already netted 11 goals in the current campaign.
His goal tally for the season adds to an impressive track record, including 26 goals in the previous season, 14 in the 2021/22 season, and 10 in the 2020/21 season.
The reigning African footballer of the year has bagged five goals in three matches since returning from the AFCON tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
Osimhen inspired Nigeria to finish runners-up in the tournament, losing 2-1 in the final to the hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
