Nigeria international Victor Boniface has shared how recurring injuries hampered his growth at the beginning of his career.
Boniface, whose proposed move to AC Milan collapsed after failing a medical, revealed that knee injuries have consistently struck at crucial stages of his development, from youth tournaments to professional milestones.
Following the failed Milan transfer, the Nigeria international joined Werder Bremen on a season-long loan in September 2025, where he is currently battling another knee injury.
“When we were preparing for the U17 Nations Cup, three weeks before the tournament, I missed out because of injury. Fast forward to the U20 Nations Cup: a day before travelling, I had another injury. After the Nation Cup, during the U-20 World Cup, for two weeks I had another injury”
“After signing my first professional contract, I had ACL a week later. The last AFCON for the Super Eagles three days before the trip to Ivory Coast I had another injury” said Boniface during a Twitch livestream with Nigerian streamer Carter Efe.
Currently, Boniface is dealing with a knee injury at Werder Bremen, with reports indicating that Bayer Leverkusen’s medical team has recommended surgery to address the ongoing issue, potentially sidelining him for a lengthy period.
