Nigeria international Victor Okoh Boniface is facing an uncertain future at Bayer Leverkusen as the summer transfer window approaches.
Boniface is growing frustrated after recently losing his starting role under Xabi Alonso in the ongoing campaign. The forward is reportedly no longer guaranteed a place in the team.
However, the enterprising attacker, who nearly departed the club in the January transfer window could finally leave in the summer.
Boniface had a brilliant start to the 2024/2025 season, building on a strong campaign where he bagged 14 Bundesliga goals. He was leading Leverkusen’s attack with confidence until injury struck in November 2024, halting his momentum.
The attacker has had limited playing time since returning with 3 goals and an assist. He is yet to reclaim his regular starting role at the club.
During the winter transfer window, Boniface came close to joining Al Nassr, but the deal fell through. Now, Leverkusen is reportedly preparing for life without him.
Boniface remains a transfer target for several clubs heading to the summer window. The 25-year-old has 10 goals in 23 appearances this season and is being tracked by Premier League sides, with Al Nassr also expected to return with a new offer this summer.
Unless things change quickly, Boniface could be on his way out of Germany — with England or Saudi Arabia as potential destinations.
