Nigeria international Calvin Bassey has shifted his attention to the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe after helping Fulham to defeat Tottenham Hotspurs.
Bassey lasted the entire duration as his outfit cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over Tottenham at the Craven Cottage, further solidifying his importance ahead of the upcoming qualifiers.
However, the enterprising defender has turned his focus on the crucial games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe as he prepares to join camp.
The 25-year-old was included in coach Eric Chelle’s squad as Nigeria fights to revive their World Cup qualification hopes.
Taking to social media after Fulham’s triumph, Bassey expressed his excitement and focus: “Business! Vital win at home. See you after international duty.”
Nigeria faces a tough challenge in Group C, where Rwanda currently leads the standings. The Super Eagles will play the Amavubi in Kigali on March 21, before hosting Zimbabwe in Uyo on March 25.
With their World Cup qualification hopes on the line, Chelle’s squad will need to secure maximum points to stay in contention for a place at the global tournament.
