Rivers United coach Finidi George has reaffirmed his team’s commitment to the title race as the Nigerian side aims to close the gap on league leaders Remo Stars.
The Port Harcourt-based club currently sits second on the table with 43 points, trailing Remo Stars by 11 points with 11 matches remaining in the season.
Despite the deficit, Finidi remains optimistic that his team can still claim the championship.
“We will fight. In this league, anything can happen. We had a bad run in two or three games, which slowed us down, but we will fight until the end.
Nothing is easy at this stage. Nobody knows what is going to happen,” said the former Nigerian international.
Finidi highlighted the unpredictability of the league, suggesting that Remo Stars’ lead could be affected by a single defeat.
“Remo is doing a great job but a lot can happen in 11 games. We will focus on each game without looking at Remo,” he added.
Rivers United are regaining form following a dip in results, with their next fixture against Niger Tornadoes set for Sunday.
The club will be aiming to maintain their momentum as they continue their pursuit of the league title.
