Nigeria president Bola Tinibu vows support as Super Eagles strive to secure World Cup qualification

Nigeria president, Bola Tinibu has vowed government support for the Super Eagles in their quest to secure qualification to the 2026 World Cup tournament.

The three-time AFCON winners produced a dominant display in Uyo to keep their 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes alive on Tuesday, beating Benin 4-0 to secure a spot in the inter-confederation playoffs.

Star striker Victor Osimhen was the hero of the night, scoring a sensational hat-trick, while Frank Onyeka added a late fourth goal as the Super Eagles swept aside their West African rivals in convincing fashion.

The Super Eagles will compete in the continental playoff before the inter-continental playoff to determine their fate for the global showpiece next year.

However, Bola Tinibu has congratulated the Super Eagles for the massive victory against Benin, remarking that the outcome is crucial enhancement to Nigeria’s qualification efforts.
