Nigeria not giving up on qualifying for 2026 FIFA World Cup – William Troost-Ekong insists
Captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, William Troost-Ekong, has assured that the players are determined to fight to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to him, the Super Eagles won’t give up on securing qualification until the campaign is concluded.
“Our desire, and willingness to play at the World Cup is still the same. We know what it is to play in a big tournament like the World Cup. I was part of the team in Russia 2018, and it was a memorable experience.
“I know everyone is willing to give their best on the field tomorrow. We know we have to keep fighting and not give up.
“We will give our best from the first minute, and give our all on the pitch. It’s important for us to beat Rwanda.
“The coach has told us to focus on the game against Rwanda, and not think beyond that,” Troost-Ekong said.
Following a slow start to the World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria sits fourth in their group behind Benin, Rwanda, and South Africa.
A win against Rwanda on Saturday, September 6, will improve Nigeria’s chances of qualifying, although it will still be difficult to secure the ticket.
