Nigeria legend Emmanuel Amuneke hopes Super Eagles qualify for 2026 World Cup

Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has backed the Super Eagles to secure qualification to the 2026 World Cup tournament to be staged in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The three-time African champions have only managed three points from four matches, with three draws and one defeat, leaving them in fifth place in Group C.

With qualification hopes hanging in the balance, the team must secure maximum points in their upcoming fixtures.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming games, Amuneke said he is hoping the tean can turn things around and secure World Cup spot.

“I hope we make it to the World Cup. I wish them the very best of luck and I hope in their upcoming games they are able to win,” Amuneke told Modo Victor.

“We must be realistic, it’s a very difficult task, but everything is possible in football. I hope they can start winning against Rwanda.”

Nigeria will face Rwanda on March 21 before hosting Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25.

It is also important to note that the Super Eagles of Nigeria missed out on the biggest soccer mundial last term, succumbing to defeat against rivals Ghana.
