Turkish club Kasimpasa have parted ways with Nigerian international Kenneth Omeruo, ending the defender’s third stint with the Istanbul-based team.
Omeruo’s exit brings an abrupt conclusion to a chapter that saw him battle injuries and limited playing time.
The 30-year-old first joined Kasimpasa on loan from Chelsea in 2015, where he showed promise but was hindered by injuries. Financial limitations prevented the club from making his move permanent.
Omeruo returned for another loan spell in 2017 before finally signing permanently in July 2023 from Spanish side Leganés for a reported €1 million.
However, his most recent campaign was derailed by injuries, restricting him to just five league appearances before being sidelined in October.
After months away, Omeruo resumed training in January, with hopes of contributing to Kasimpasa’s season and bolstering Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles, currently fifth in Group C, are preparing for critical matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March. Omeruo’s return was expected to strengthen both club and country.
Omeruo’s departure leaves his next move uncertain, though he is now reportedly exploring opportunities in leagues still open for transfers, including Turkey, Israel, and Romania.
