Nico Williams, the electrifying Athletic Bilbao winger, appears increasingly likely to join Arsenal as Bayern Munich struggles to clear financial hurdles.
The German giants are keen on the Spanish-Ghanaian star, but their pursuit hinges on offloading players to fund the move. Meanwhile, Arsenal is gaining ground, poised to swoop in and bolster their attack.
According to Bild sports director Christian Falk, “Arsenal is currently in the better position,” with Bayern needing to sell before they can buy. Williams, a standout offensive talent in Europe, is coveted by elite clubs, and Arsenal views him as the key to narrowing the gap with rivals Liverpool. The Gunners are prepared to act swiftly, while Bayern’s plans remain stalled.
For Bayern to sign Williams, either Kingsley Coman or Serge Gnabry must depart. Coman has been linked to Tottenham, Newcastle, and Saudi clubs, but no firm offers have surfaced. Gnabry’s situation is trickier, with no serious takers in sight.
If Bayern can’t free up funds soon, Arsenal might seal the deal, leaving Munich empty-handed once again.
