Nice step up talks for Wolfsburg forward Mohamed Amoura in late-window move

Nice have made significant progress in negotiations to sign Algeria international Mohamed Amoura from Wolfsburg, with the French club seeking to complete the attacking transfer before the window closes.

The deal has not yet been finalised, but discussions between Nice and the parties involved in the proposed move are understood to be heading in a positive direction. French outlet Foot Mercato reports that talks have accelerated during the final hours of the transfer market.

Nice have already strengthened their forward options by signing Gauthier Hein and bringing in Elye Wahi on loan from Marseille with an option to buy for €15m. However, the club remain keen to add another attacking player and believe Amoura could provide greater pace and an additional threat in front of goal.

The interest in Amoura has emerged as something of a surprise. The 26-year-old had not been among the most prominent names linked with a move in the French transfer market in recent weeks, but negotiations have gathered momentum quickly.

Amoura has made 48 appearances for Algeria and has built considerable experience in European football. He moved to the German league on loan in the summer of 2024 before signing a permanent contract with Wolfsburg a year later.

Despite a difficult campaign for Wolfsburg, Amoura scored eight goals and supplied three assists in 33 appearances last season. His performances have helped maintain his reputation as one of Algeria’s most dangerous attacking players.

Nice are not the only club to have shown an interest. Udinese and Marseille have previously considered a move for Amoura, meaning any attempt to complete the transfer at this late stage of the window could become a race against time.

Amoura’s qualities appear to fit Nice’s requirements. His speed, ability to shoot from distance and effectiveness in front of goal have made him an important part of the Algeria attack.

He was particularly influential in the African qualifiers for the World Cup, scoring 10 goals. Those performances have increased the appeal of a player who can offer a direct threat and make an impact in several attacking areas.

Nice must now work quickly if they are to reach a final agreement with Wolfsburg and the player before the transfer deadline. While the negotiations are progressing, the move remains incomplete and the involvement of other interested clubs could still affect the outcome.
