Nice make Elye Wahi return a summer transfer priority

OGC Nice have opened discussions over a possible move for Elye Wahi, with the Eintracht Frankfurt striker now one of the club’s main targets this summer.

According to information from Sacha Tavolieri, Nice have begun exploring the possibility of bringing Wahi back to the Allianz Riviera. The club have not yet made a formal offer to Eintracht Frankfurt, choosing instead to establish whether an agreement with the player can be reached.

Nice representatives have been in regular contact with Wahi’s entourage to outline the club’s plans and explain their desire to see the forward return to the Cote d’Azur. Their immediate objective is to agree personal and contractual terms before opening formal negotiations with Frankfurt.

If that stage is completed successfully, Nice are expected to approach the German club with an initial proposal for the transfer. The precise structure of any deal has not yet been decided. A permanent transfer, a loan or another arrangement remain possible, with the discussions still at a preliminary stage.

Eintracht Frankfurt are understood to be willing to consider Wahi’s departure, although they would expect an offer that meets their financial expectations. The German club have not closed the door on a transfer, but the final price and format of the operation will be central to any negotiations.

A potential advantage for Nice is Wahi’s reported willingness to return. The striker is said to retain particularly positive memories of his previous time on the Cote d’Azur, both professionally and personally.

His experience of daily life in the south of France is also believed to have been favourable. That attachment could help Nice persuade him to make a return and may assist the club in reaching an agreement over his contract.

Nice have therefore made the first moves in their attempt to bring Wahi back, but the club must still find common financial ground with Eintracht Frankfurt. Should talks with the player’s representatives continue positively, negotiations with Frankfurt could accelerate in the coming days.

The French club have made Wahi a priority and intend to pursue the deal. However, no formal bid has yet been submitted and there is currently no agreement between the two clubs.

Nice will soon begin their French league campaign against Lorient. For that match, bookmakers 1xBet list Nice as favourites at 2.15, with a draw priced at 3.45 and a Lorient victory at 3.20.
