Nice bring in Algeria striker Mohamed Amoura on loan from Wolfsburg

Nice have signed Algeria centre-forward Mohamed Amoura from Wolfsburg on loan until 30 June 2027, giving the Ligue 1 club a new attacking option for the coming campaign.

The 26-year-old joins the French side after one season with Wolfsburg, who signed him from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise for €14.75m in July 2025. Amoura’s move to Nice was completed on 31 August 2026, with his contract at the club running until the end of June 2027.

Amoura arrives with experience in Belgium, Switzerland and Germany, having also played for FC Lugano and ES Setif during his career. He joined Union Saint-Gilloise from Lugano in August 2023 after helping the Swiss club win the Swiss Cup in 2021-22.

The forward was part of Union’s Belgian Cup-winning team in 2024 before moving to Wolfsburg. His career has included a further loan spell at Wolfsburg from Union during the 2024-25 season, prior to the permanent transfer between the clubs.

Amoura has been used as a centre-forward and is naturally right-footed. Born in Tahir, Algeria, he stands 1.70m tall and represents his country at international level.

He featured once for Algeria at the 2026 World Cup, playing seven per cent of the available minutes in the tournament. Amoura did not score or register an assist in that appearance.

His arrival adds another player with experience of domestic cup football in Europe to the Nice squad. The club will compete in Ligue 1, while Amoura begins a new chapter in France after a season in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga.

Nice have taken the Algerian striker on loan from Wolfsburg, with the agreement lasting through 30 June 2027.
