NFF dismisses reported Eric Chelle’s links Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed claims that Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is close to joining Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca (WAC).

NFF Media Officer Promise Efoghe labelled the report as “false” and urged fans and the media to ignore it.

The clarification follows a story from Moroccan outlet Le7TV, which suggested Chelle was set to replace WAC’s current coach, Amine Benhachem.

According to the report, the Franco-Malian coach was “excited” by the prospect of taking charge of the club, currently second in the Moroccan Botola Pro league with 29 points from 12 matches, just one behind rivals Raja Casablanca.

Efoghe’s statement underscores the NFF’s commitment to maintaining stability on the technical bench ahead of crucial international fixtures.

Chelle, who has a year remaining on his contract with the NFF, has been at the centre of speculation, with the Le7TV story prompting questions about his dedication to the national team.

A close associate of Chelle also dismissed the report as “mischievous and entirely baseless,” reinforcing the federation’s denial.
