English outfit Newcastle United are interested in signing Germany-born defender of Senegalese descent, Malick Thiaw.

According to sources, the English Premier League club is planning to present an official bid to AC Milan for the centre-back.

According to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, the Premier League side has initiated fresh contact over the 22-year-old centre-back and is currently preparing an official bid to test Milan’s resolve.

AC Milan reportedly values Thiaw between €25 and €30 million. The asking price falls well within Newcastle’s financial reach.

While the Magpies are actively prioritising attacking reinforcements, particularly as they eye a replacement for Alexander Isak, Thiaw has emerged as a key defensive target.

AC Milan are open to letting the former Schalke 04 defender leave this summer if their valuation is met.

The club had previously agreed on a €25 million fee with newly promoted Serie A side Como, but Thiaw turned down the move, preferring a step up in his career.

He is said to be open to the move to England.
