English side Newcastle United are interested in signing Burkina Faso defender Edmond Tapsoba this summer.
According to sources, the English Premier League outfit has submitted a bumper €58 million bid to secure the services of the defender from German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
Edmond Tapsoba is under contract with Bayer until 2028 and is likely to play an even bigger role next season following the departures of Jonathan Tah, Odilon Kossounou and Jeremie Frimpong.
As such, Leverkusen are reportedly unwilling to entertain offers below his €95 million release clause.
While Newcastle are leading the chase with their substantial bid, they are not alone.
Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation closely. It remains to be seen whether either club is prepared to meet the German side’s steep valuation to land the talented centre-back.
Checks have revealed that although Edmond Tapsoba is open to continuing with Bayer Leverkusen, he is not ruling out a departure from the German club this summer.
