Newcastle United has been dealt a significant blow with the news of Moussa Sissoko’s injury. The midfielder sustained a hamstring injury during last week’s match against Southampton, which ended in a heavy defeat for the Magpies (4-0). Manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that Sissoko will be sidelined for “at least 2 or 3 weeks.”
Pardew expressed regret over losing Sissoko, noting his importance to the team and praising his performances throughout the season. Despite the setback, Pardew remains optimistic about Sissoko’s return before the end of the season, highlighting his resilience and learning curve as a young player.
Newcastle finds themselves in the race for a spot in European competition, currently sitting 9th in the Premier League table, just 10 points behind 6th place. However, Pardew lamented a “real injury crisis” at the club, with several key players including Loïc Rémy, Mathieu Debuchy, Tim Krul, and Yohan Cabaye (who has since been transferred) all sidelined.
Sissoko’s absence will be particularly felt in Newcastle’s upcoming match against Manchester United this Saturday.
