The Libyan Archives Center has recently released a comprehensive book authored by sports historian Nasser Al-Hajji titled “Libyan Regulations Organizing Sports Entities,” covering a span of 64 years from 1954 to 2018.
Spanning over 670 pages, the book encompasses 67 legislations, laws, and decisions pertaining to the sporting components in Libya.
It is divided into four sections: the first section covers public bodies, ministries, and a total of 21 legislations, the second section addresses the Libyan Olympic Committee, sports federations, with a total of 29 legislations, the third section deals with youth clubs and comprises 15 legislations, while the fourth section pertains to sports councils, encompassing two legislations.
In an exclusive statement to “Al-Wasat” portal, sports historian Nasser Al-Hajji noted that the book serves as a compilation of laws and regulations issued to regulate sports activities in all its facets.
He emphasized that the book is intended to be a reference and a witness to the evolution of these laws and regulations over time.
Al-Hajji mentioned that he relied on various sources for legislation, including the official gazette, the Libyan legislative database, local newspapers, and the legal department of the Ministry of Sports.
He also highlighted the cooperation of several sports figures known for their interest in preserving copies of decisions, such as Professors Ahmed Al-Yazidi, Al-Sanousi Amer, Mohamed Beit Al-Mal, Mahmoud Al-Taweel, Rahouma Sout, Abdeljalil Al-Bazanti, and Ali Jernaz, who also reviewed the book.
The collaboration extended to the team at the Official Gazette department of the Libyan Archives Center.
