The Libyan Ministry of Interior’s representative to the Government appointed by the House of Representatives, Mr. Faraj Qaem, informed the Libyan Football Federation of his approval to allow spectators to attend matches in the Premier League, following commitments from the presidents of Al-Ahli Benghazi and Al-Nasr to abide by the laws and regulations stipulated by the Football Federation.
A Facebook post by the Ministry’s representative on Sunday shared Mr. Qaem’s letter to the President of the Libyan Football Federation regarding the return of fans to the stands in matches of the Libyan Premier League, known as “Dawreena.”
In his letter to the President of the Libyan Football Federation, Mr. Qaem confirmed the “approval to hold matches of the Libyan Premier League and the First Division of Football with the presence of the audience,” citing “commitments made by the presidents of Al-Ahli Benghazi and Al-Nasr to respect the laws, regulations, and systems stipulated by the Libyan Football Federation.”
Mr. Qaem emphasized that his approval for the return of fans to the stadiums stems from his keenness “to promote the sports sector in Libya, and belief in the significant role and importance played by the morale booster for clubs, players, and fans.”
The decision marks a significant step forward for Libyan football, as the return of spectators to stadiums not only enhances the atmosphere during matches but also reflects a positive development in the country’s efforts to revitalize its sports scene.
