Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Nelson Semedo expressed disappointment following their narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Friday night.
Despite the loss, Semedo, who has Cape Verdean heritage, emphasized the team’s commendable effort and resilience throughout the match.
“We had two good chances to score, we couldn’t score but we leave the stadium with a good sensation and everyone gave everything of themselves so if we keep doing that, we are going to do great things in the future. I’m proud of my team,” Semedo remarked after the game.
The defeat ended Wolves’ impressive six-game winning streak.
However, Semedo remains optimistic about the team’s prospects in the remaining fixtures of the season.
“We want to finish the season in the right way, we have two games at home now and one away and we are going to go for it,” he added.
Semedo also highlighted the positive impact of manager Vitor Pereira since his appointment.
Under Pereira’s guidance, Wolves have shown significant improvement, climbing out of the relegation zone and displaying a more cohesive and confident style of play.
“With Vitor’s arrival, we had a change and a change is always good. He makes us stronger, stronger connection with the fans now. All of that together and the way that Vitor wants to play,” Semedo noted.
Looking ahead, Wolves aim to capitalize on their remaining home fixtures to secure a strong finish to the season.
