Napoli’s Sporting Director, Mauro Meluso, has addressed concerns about the commitment of midfielder Piotr Zielinski, whose contract is set to expire in June. Despite the ongoing contract situation, Meluso emphasized Zielinski’s professionalism and the team’s current focus on crucial upcoming matches.
Speaking to DAZN, Meluso stated, “Piotr’s contract is running down, but he is a professional.
We are focused exclusively on this evening’s game, which is very important to get back into the race for the top four.
iotr is an important player for this team, and as long as he is on our books, he must be at the disposal of the squad.”
The remarks come amid speculations about Zielinski’s future with Napoli.
Despite the contractual uncertainties, Meluso reiterated the midfielder’s significance to the team and underlined the need for his continued contribution.
Regarding star striker Victor Osimhen, whose potential transfer has been a subject of discussion, Meluso adopted a forward-looking perspective.
“It is not a very fair mentality to think that if a player has earned the opportunity to change teams, he somehow cannot be trusted to deliver at his current squad,” Meluso commented.
“I see them in training all the time, Zielinski and Osimhen certainly never lacked for a competitive approach.
When he returns, we will evaluate his situation,” Meluso added, providing insights into the ongoing evaluation process for Osimhen’s role in the team.
As Napoli faces crucial fixtures in the pursuit of a top-four finish, Meluso’s statements aim to reassure fans and maintain a focused environment within the squad, emphasizing trust in Zielinski and Osimhen’s commitment to the team’s objectives.
