Serie A club Napoli are reportedly targeting Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund in a potential swap deal involving Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen this summer.
Hojlund, who joined United from Atalanta for £72 million in August 2023, has endured a difficult season under intense pressure.
He recently broke a 21-game goal drought by scoring against Leicester City, a moment that could boost his confidence.
According to The Daily Mirror, Napoli manager Antonio Conte is eager to bring the Danish forward back to Serie A, where he excelled before moving to the Premier League.
Hojlund has struggled in a struggling United squad this season, and a move to Italy could offer him a fresh start.
Meanwhile, Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, is available for £63 million. However, a direct swap deal with Hojlund could be an option, especially since United is exploring other striker options under new manager Ruben Amorim.
Osimhen has been in top form, leading the Turkish league with 26 goals in all competitions.
United could benefit from bringing in one of Europe’s most prolific goal scorers, while Hojlund might find his form in Serie A again. However, the young striker remains hopeful about his future at Old Trafford.
Reflecting on his struggles and recent goal, Hojlund said, “”I think it comes down to my performances as well. I think obviously I’ve not been on top of my game as I wanted to and we’re still adapting to a new system and some new positions. But I think I’ve been growing into it lately and starting to look a bit better.
“But I’m just happy to get on the scoresheet and I’m sure they will come more now. I’m happy, but it’s not all about goals. I’m obviously very happy to get my goal and it gives me a lot of confidence.
“I think we’re starting to get a bit more of a connection between myself and the players, then starting to understand what my qualities are even more and playing to them as well.
“I’m developing and starting to understand their qualities as well, and that’s what the manager wants. He wants us to play to our strengths and now we’re starting to find each other even better.
