Papy Djilobodji’s injury is more serious than initially anticipated. The Senegalese defender for Nantes had to be substituted after just around twenty minutes of play during Saturday’s match against Ajaccio (2-2) due to broken ribs and abdominal pain.
Djilobodji sustained the injury following a collision with his goalkeeper, Rémy Riou. Complaining of stomach discomfort, he was promptly taken to the hospital for further evaluation. Additional examinations are scheduled for Sunday to determine the extent of his injury and the expected duration of his absence from the field.
Nantes, already facing challenges in 2014, may encounter further difficulties if Djilobodji is sidelined for an extended period.
