Nana Boateng: Ghana midfielder swaps Petrolul for Krasava ENY in Cyprus

Ghanaian defensive midfielder Nana Boateng has joined Krasava ENY from Romanian club Petrolul on a free transfer, adding experience to the Cyprus League side’s squad. The 32-year-old has signed a contract running until 31 May 2027.

Boateng’s move was completed on 4 September 2026, bringing an end to his time in Romania after less than a year at Petrolul. He joined the Romanian club as a free agent on 30 January 2026 and now moves on without a transfer fee.

The Accra-born midfielder has built a career across Europe, North America and Asia, with Krasava ENY becoming his latest club. He previously played for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in South Korea, where he won the league and cup double in the 2024-25 season.

Boateng also spent two seasons with CFR Cluj, helping the Romanian club win the national title in 2021-22. His honours include a Finnish Cup triumph with Kuopion Palloseura in 2021 and a Norwegian league title with Strømsgodset in 2013.

A right-footed player whose main position is defensive midfield, Boateng began his senior career after joining Manchester City’s youth system from Ghanaian academy Right to Dream in 2011. He later spent time with Manchester City’s development sides before moving to Strømsgodset on loan in August 2012.

His career has also included a spell with Colorado before his move to KuPS, followed by the switch to CFR Cluj in September 2021. Boateng joined Jeonbuk in July 2023 for a reported €1m fee, after CFR Cluj had previously signed him from KuPS for €125,000.

Boateng arrives at Krasava ENY with a market value of €450,000 and a record of domestic success in Norway, Finland, Romania and South Korea. The move gives the Cyprus club a midfielder with experience of winning league and cup competitions in several different countries.

Krasava ENY have secured Nana Boateng on a free transfer from Petrolul, with the Ghanaian under contract until May 2027.
