Malian striker Moussa Soumano has officially joined Dutch side NAC Breda, signing a four-year contract following his transfer from French club AC Ajaccio.
The 19-year-old, born in Saint-Denis, France, brings with him both youth and experience, having already amassed 66 professional appearances with Ajaccio.
Despite his age, Soumano featured regularly in Ligue 2 last season, where he netted four goals and earned plaudits for his athleticism and movement in the final third.
NAC Breda have reportedly broken the bank for the young forward, paying a fee in the region of €500,000 — a record amount for the club — as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new Eredivisie campaign.
Soumano, who is eligible to represent Mali at international level, was unveiled on Monday, with the club expressing confidence in his ability to adapt quickly to Dutch football.
We are thrilled to welcome Moussa to Breda, said technical director Peter Maas during the player’s official presentation. Moussa has an explosive profile and is keen to progress. The Eredivisie is a good place for that, and NAC represents a major challenge. With Soumano, we gain depth and a threat in attack. He can play in several positions.
Known for his pace, versatility, and direct style of play, Soumano is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to NAC’s forward line.
Capable of playing centrally or out wide, he offers the type of fluidity that fits well within the Eredivisie’s fast-paced and technical style of football.
While his goal tally may not yet reflect his full potential, Breda’s coaching staff believe the young striker has the tools to thrive in the Netherlands and are optimistic about his development under their guidance.
Soumano joins a NAC side aiming to make a mark in the top tier after earning promotion back to the Eredivisie.
With the club looking to establish itself among the elite once more, the arrival of a promising forward like Soumano underlines their long-term ambition.
He is expected to join the team in pre-season training immediately, as he begins his journey in Dutch football.
