Standard Liège have been monitoring 18-year-old Guinean midfielder Naby Keita, who has been playing for Istres in Ligue 2 this season. However, despite their interest, it appears unlikely that Keita will make the move to the Belgian club during the upcoming transfer window.
Istres, recently relegated to the French National League, are expected to sell several players, including Keita, who is regarded as a valuable asset. Yet, Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg have also expressed strong interest in the young midfielder, reportedly driving his market value up to around €2 million.
For Standard Liège, this price tag could be a deterrent, as the club may be reluctant to invest such a sum on a player of Keita’s profile at this stage. Meanwhile, Salzburg’s willingness to meet the valuation positions them as the frontrunners in securing the promising talent’s signature.
